Alvarado says vaccination is the strategy to reactivate tourism

( -The President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado, said this Sunday that the main strategy for reactivate tourism is the vaccination process against COVID-19.

This was stated in a press conference after participating in the celebration of the 197th anniversary of the annexation of the Party of Nicoya to Costa Rica, in Guanacaste.

Questioned by the absence of his administration’s plans to reactivate tourism and the economy, hit by the pandemic, Alvarado said that the vaccination process will allow open borders better, trade and tourism.

“What our process is looking for is that we reach the herd immunity so that we can generate greater openness and take advantage of high season which begins in November, and attract a lot of tourism. That will have a great impact on Guanacaste, ”he said.

The president insisted that he will not promote any measure to soften the collection of the Value Added Tax (VAT) to tourist activities and asked the Legislative Assembly to, rather, speed up the passage of the bill to create the National Guarantee and Guarantee Fund.

This latest initiative will allow companies affected by the economic crisis to access the Bank financing in exchange for maintaining current levels of job.
