San José, July 23, 2021 (elmundo.cr) – The friendly match between Costa Rica and El Salvador will cause changes in the First Division tournament organized by Unafut.
The Costa Rican Football Federation (Fedef Fútbol) confirmed this afternoon that the match against the Salvadorans will be played on August 21 in Los Angeles, California, United States.
A few minutes after the announcement, Unafut explained that there will be a rearrangement on date five of Apertura 2021.
“Regarding the friendly match of the Costa Rican National Team, recently confirmed by Fedefutbol, at Unafut we are going to make an adjustment to the calendar to support the coach’s work. Luis Fernando Suárez especially that the match was not planned prior to the launch of the calendar and it does not correspond to the FIFA date.
“Matchday 5 will be played on Saturday, August 14 and Matchday 6 (is brought forward) to Tuesday, August 17 so that the National Team can work from 18 to 21 with players from our Promerica League. Santos has his second leg of the Concacaf League that week, therefore it will be the only game to be rescheduled by the Competition Committee ”, explained Unafut through its press department.
The match will take place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson and will face two teams currently playing in the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup.
This game is not within the international calendar of FIFA dates, so it will be played with the majority of players from the local championship and will be the last blank for the Costa Rican National Team before starting the qualifiers heading to Qatar 2022 in September.
