San José, July 26 ( .- Limón FC should not have been relegated to the Liga de Ascenso. This was made clear by the president of the Club Sport Cartaginés, Leonardo Vargas, in the preview of this Sunday’s game against Herediano.

The blue and white highest authority explains that at least 67% of the presidents that make up the Unafut agreed that the Apertura 2021 should be played with at least 13 teams. Where the team that lost the relegation league between Sporting and Limón will play as a guest.

“I am going to speak very personally. I think that Limón should not have passed (its decline), “said Vargas before the consultation of Radio Columbia as an accredited means of communication to enter the stadiums.

“Limón should be playing in the First Division today and be number 13 (team).

“Because seven or eight presidents handled it that way, during a large part of the tournament we talked about it,” said Vargas.

At a time prior to the end of the Clausura 2021, a significant number of teams sought to cancel the relegation because in the standings only Alajuelense and Santos de Guápiles had no risk of occupying the last box.

“In the end, that support when some teams realized that they were no longer so committed (with permanence), the support was diluted and Limón was left alone.”

Today Limón maintains his fight to remain in the First Division, the case is in the Costa Rican Sports Institute (Icoder).

“Limón should be in the First Division because that is what we (the presidents) talked about throughout the tournament,” said Vargas Monge.

“We left the idea that, even if it was by invitation, the team that descended was going to participate in this (tournament).”

“The idea was that there would be no relegation because of what had happened in the previous tournament with Sporting.”
