Law 20,641 is an important step in the decarbonization of our economy, says the Minister of the Environment

San José, Jul 27 ( – The Minister of Environment and Energy, Andrea Meza, pointed out that “Law 20641, law to advance in the elimination of the use of fossil fuels and declare Costa Rica free of exploration and exploitation oil gas, is an important step in the decarbonization of our economy.

For Meza it is “to move towards that economy, of the future that is based on renewable energies, on hydrogen, on these new sustainable sources.”

“It is to give clear signals to the markets and to attract investment,” he said.

Given this, he recalled that «the global economy has turned and is moving along that line and it is important that Costa Rica continues to consolidate the implementation of its de-carbonization route, but above all that it continues to attract investment aligned with that vision, of that economy of future that is circular, that is green and that is blue, that is based on that natural heritage that is our great asset and on human talent ».

“It is this innovation that will bring new and better benefits to the country,” he concluded.
