Sign low-profile but multi-functional players

Alajuela. Ángel Catalina maintains a pattern when it comes to signing players who reach the purple box to reinforce the squad. Low-profile names that are characterized by their multi-functionality.

Saprissa introduced 22-year-old forward Carlos Villegas on Wednesday. The national champion brings home a player who trained in the club’s minor leagues and who even made his debut in Tibás, San José, under Carlos Watson in 2017.

Villegas signed a new contract that links him to Saprissa until 2024.

“We give the warmest welcome to Carlos Villegas, who will become the institution’s new forward until May 2024,” the S reported in a brief press release.

However, in January 2019 it was transferred as a loan to Municipal Grecia and then Saprissa chose not to renew it.

In addition, he played in the Liga de Ascenso with the Puerto Golfito team during 2020. Later he returned to the top category as part of the ranks of Limón FC.

Villegas joins the signings of Kevin Chamorro, Kevin Espinoza, Jossimar Pemberton and David Ramírez, players who do not have a bombastic poster but who did not clash in the previous tournament.
