San José, July 24 (elmundo.cr) .- Luis Fernando Suárez brings out his self-critical side and says he wants a more even team in its performance, a team whose performance is more constant both in attack and defense.
This was detailed by the Colombian in the press conference prior to the decisive game against Canada, a match that will be played this Sunday at 5:00 pm in Dallas, United States.
“We have not had a continuous game in every sense, of attack and defense. It is difficult because one faces another team that is also trying to win, but it is something in which we must improve, that continuity in our game is what we intend to find ”, said the DT.
For his part, defender Óscar Duarte confirmed that they have reached this commitment with the backing of three consecutive victories. “We have been working correctly and we won, but we also took the opportunity to correct some things that were not right. We come with confidence and eager to qualify ”.
The defender reiterated that his injury problems have already been left behind. “I wanted to be in the National Team, to come to this Cup, thank God in the end they brought me and here we are to help,” he concluded.
“We showed interesting things in all the lines, we arrived motivated and wanting to see this as a final… But we respect the team that we are going to face a lot, because they are playing well. If the previous matches were complicated, this one will be even more so ”, stated the Tricolor Technician in a virtual press conference.
Ticos and Canadians will meet on Sunday at 5 pm (Costa Rica time) at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, in search of a place in the semifinals of the tournament.
“From the beginning the idea was to come here to the Cup to be the protagonists, we never took the responsibility of looking for the title. The players realized that this prominence is there, because although there are potholes, in the count of the Costa Rican National Team there are more good stories than bad, ”said the helmsman.
Without dropping eleven. Suárez dribbled all attempts by the press to find out details of the line-up against the Americans. “It is not advisable to announce it before, we must protect ourselves a little,” he clarified with kindness. And it is that the menu of options is open again in the central defense, where Costa Rica recovers Francisco Calvo and Kendall Wastson after their respective sanctions.
The only name he confirmed is Esteban Alvarado as the starting goalkeeper, although there was no greater mystery: Leonel Moreira is suspended, Patrick Sequeira had to leave the Cup due to injury and Kevin Briceño just joined on Thursday.
