(CRHoy.com) –Merchants and community leaders of Turrialba They asked the Government to free the canton from restrictions commercial and traffic imposed as a result of COVID-19 to reactivate the economy hit by the strong rains and floods this week.
They requested this in a letter addressed to the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado, to the Minister of Health, Daniel Salas, and the president of the Commission for Risk Prevention and Emergency Attention (CNE), Alexander Solis.
The document was delivered by the Turrialbeño community leader, journalist and lawyer, Carlos Hidalgo Flores.
According to merchants, the rains further hit the canton’s economy and many families who have lost millions of colones in damaged merchandise by the overflowing of rivers and landslides.
Therefore, they requested to reduce or eliminate vehicle and trade restrictions, even if it is gradually to favor trade with the local consumption.
“Please reduce or remove the restrictions in the cantons affected by the floods and let’s help them reactivate the economy, people need resources to survive, we promise to go to buy with mask, with alcohol gel and with all the protocols ”, said Hidalgo.
