(CRHoy.com) At around 11:00 pm this Wednesday, the authorities enabled the passage through the La Estrella river, in Limón, after the floods that the structure was taken away a few days ago.
The Traffic Police confirmed that the route is already fully enabled, thanks to the bailey bridge built by the National Highway Council (Conavi) and the Board of Port Administration and Economic Development of the Atlantic slope (Japdeva).
The pass is located on National Route 36, which communicates the central canton of Limón with the South Caribbean.
In the last hours, several vehicles that were trapped managed to leave the area.
Heavy rains in recent days undermined part of the structure and even caused the detachment of the asphalt layer.
The bridge was classified as “alarming” in an analysis carried out by the National Laboratory of Materials and Structural Models (Lanamme) of the University of Costa Rica (UCR) published in September 2018.
