(CRHoy.com) In Costa Rica, 15 people die a day from cardiovascular accidents. Many of them could have been saved with a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuver.
According to the 9-1-1 Emergency System, every day they receive calls from people who are suffering unemployment or who are close to someone who is experiencing it and do not know how to act. Thus, it is important to know how to apply the maneuvers.
Chest compressions should be done non-stop, until trained personnel arrive, if the scene is unsafe, or until the patient moves.
It is important to indicate that mouth-to-mouth resuscitation is not recommended for untrained persons. The Red Cross asks to use only the “hands only” maneuver.
